Man pleads guilty to attempted robbery in Longford

According to Gardaí, the 32 year old entered a filling station on the Dublin Road shortly after 8am with a 6 millimetre revolver.

A Longford man has pleaded guilty to an attempted armed robbery of a local service station.
Noel McLoughlin on Ferefad, Ardagh Road, Longford was charged with a firearms offence and the attempted robbery of Camlin Service Station on the Dublin Road on the 14th of September 2023.
According to Gardaí, the 32 year old entered a filling station on the Dublin Road shortly after 8am with a 6 millimetre revolver.

He's reported to have threatened staff before leaving the premises empty handed on foot.
Mr McGloughlin was later arrested by Longford Gardaí and charged under the Firearms Act and the Criminal Justice Act.
He entered a guilty plea to the charges before Judge Kenneth Connolly via video link at Longford Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.
He will be sentenced at tomorrows Circuit Court sitting in Longford Court House.
