A man in his 50s has died after a traffic collision involving a bus in Westmeath.
The 55 year old was driving the bus in the Killogeenaghan Townland near Moate around 5.30 yesterday evening, when the vehicle left the road and collided with a ditch.
The driver was taken to Tullamore Hospital in a serious condition and later passed away.
There were approximately 20 passengers on board the bus at the time of the incident, with a number undergoing treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed to allow Garda Forensic Investigators to examine the scene this morning and local diversions are in place.
Anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision or any motorists who may have dash cam footage, are urged to contact Athlone Garda Station or the Garda Confidential line.
