Major power outages reported across Shannonside region

Over 5000 homes are currently without power in the Shannonside region.

A major outage has been reported in Athlone, with close to 2,400 people affected.

A second major outage has now been reported in Ballaghaderreen with close to 4000 people affected

Another large outage had also been reported in Roscommon Town but this has now been resolved according to the ESB

Lecarrow, Ballygar, Ballinasloe, Ballyforan, Castlerea, Elphin and Tulsk have all also reported outages affecting over 700 people.

A status yellow thunderstorm warning is currently in effect for Westmeath, Galway, Roscommon, Longford, and Leitrim.

The ESB have given an estimated restoration time of 7:30pm this evening.
