A local swimming club is hosting a major fundraiser today.
Longford swimming club are hosting a 24hr swimathon, with the aim of raising funds for the continued running of the club. During the 24 hours, swimmers will be aiming to complete a swim a river challenge with the ultimate goal of swimming the total length of the River Shannon, which is 360km. The event gets underway at 2pm this afternoon in the Longford Sports and Leisure Centre.
Donations can be made via the club's gofundme link, which has already raised over €1000.
