Low Covid numbers locally as Longford's incidence rate drops again

The 14-day incidence rate is 157 cases per 100,000 people while the 5-day moving average of new cases is 580.

There has been a further 520 new Covid-19 cases and 1 additional death. 359 people are currently in hospital with the disease, 81 of which are in ICU.

Locally there has been a drop in the number of cases, with fewer than five recorded in County Longford and County Roscommon today and zero in county Leitrim.

Longford's Covuid rate remains the second-highest in the country at 269.1- behind Offaly at 424. Roscommon has the eight-highest Covid incidence rate in the country with Leitrim the lowest.

Of the cases notified today 258 are men, 262 are women. 79% are under 45 years of age and the median age is 28 years old. 242 in Dublin, 36 in Meath, 30 in Offaly, 29 in Kildare, 25 in Wicklow and the remaining 158 cases are spread across 20 other counties.
