Tributes are being paid to Tony McCarth, who is retiring as lifeboat operation manager at Lough Ree RNLI. Mr McCarth joined the busy RNLI station

Tributes are being paid to Tony McCarth, who is retiring as lifeboat operation manager at Lough Ree RNLI.

Mr McCarth joined the busy RNLI station outside Athlone in 2014, and took over as operations manger in two years later.

Mr McCarth is known as one of the most foremost authorities on water safety procedures in Ireland and oversaw a significant period of enhanced training as well as development at the RNLI facilities and equipment in Coosan.

Former lifeboat operations manager at the Lough Ree RNLI Damien Delaney has paid this tribute to Tony on the Lough REE RNLI Facebook page.
