Longford's first Pride Parade to take to the streets in June

The chair of Longford Pride, Caroline Lewis, says it's vital that the positive and inclusive messages of Pride are seen in local communities.

Longford will host it's first ever Pride Parade this summer.

The inaugural Longford Pride Festival will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community throughout the region in a safe, positive and fun series of events.

The event is being organised by the Bula Bula Samba Band and is planned to take place on Saturday the 15th of June.

The group is holding a meeting this evening from 7.30 in Longford Library for those interested in volunteering in the festival.

Speaking to Shannonside FM News, Longford Pride chair Caroline Lewis says local members of the LGBTQ+ community traditionally travelled to bigger cities for pride celebrations.
