Longford town's local electoral area has the highest Covid incidence rate in the Shannonside region.

Almost forty cases of Coronavirus were reported in the LEA in the last two weeks - resulting in a Covid rate per 100,000 of 236 - almost three times the national average.

Over 50 new cases of Covid have been reported in County Longford in the last two weeks - but the majority are centred around Longford town.

The LEA that covers the county town recorded a total of 38 cases up to Monday of this week resulting in a rate of 211 per 100,000 - well above the national average of 84.

Thirteen Covid cases have been reported in the Ballymahon LEA and fewer than five in north Longford in the last two weeks.

In Roscommon, the Boyle LEA remains the area with the highest Covid incidence rate in the county after seventeen cases were recorded in the last fortnight

Roscommon's town's MD recorded eight cases in the last 14 days and fewer than five cases in the Athlone LEA were reported.

In Leitrim the Carrick-on-Shannon LA has recorded 18 cases in the last two weeks - resulting in a covid rate of 158

Fewer than five cases were recorded in Ballinamore's LEA and seven in the north Leitrim local electoral area.
