Philip Stewart has thousands of followers on social media platforms where he posts about daily farming life

A Longford farmer and social media star has been granted planning permissions to build a new farm shop and cafe at his now famous farm.

Philip Stewart, also known as Farmer Phil, is a beef farmer from Moydow in Longford who chronicles his life and work on his farm to thousands of viewers on Youtube and TikTok. The Stewart family farm 500 acres in Longford, raising cattle, selling beef and running a contracting business. With over 75,000 subscribers on Youtube and over 41,000 followers on TikTok, Farmer Phil is well known across the country for his videos on everyday farming life.

Plans submitted to Longford County Council called for the construction of an agricultural shed containing a farm shop and cafe at the Stewart Farm. The agricultural shed will also include public toilets, stores, office and staff facilities. Other developments on site such as the formation of a new vehicular entrance, access route and parking area also included in the application.

Longford County Planners approved the plans with 12 conditions attached. They include a developer contribution of over €3,000 and a ruling that the back and lateral boundaries must be heavily planted with native trees.

The popular farmer goes by the name FARMER PHIL on Youtube and farmerphil135 on TikTok.
