A Longford senator is calling for a review of the criteria for a special government funding scheme for rural areas to be published.

A review of the Clár programme, based on the 2016 census and where money was spent in rural areas was initiated a number of years ago - but the information has not yet become public.

Senator Michael Carrigy has questioned how areas in the county, such as Clondra and Stonepark, which are well outside urban areas, cannot be included in the Clar funding application scheme because of their location.
