Concerns are being expressed about the tight time frame for schools to reopen in just over a month.

1,000 more secondary school teachers will be hired under the Government's plans.

While 75 million euro is being allocated to allow schools adapt their classrooms for social distancing.

A Longford school principal has warned that the last thing anyone in the education sector wants is the re-opening of schools leading to an increase in Covid 19 cases.

Principals, teachers, and students are still trying to digest the details contained in the government's plan announced on Monday evening that will see pupils sit a metre apart in many cases and some classes even planned for PE halls.

Principal of St Mel's college in Longford, Declan Rowley, hopes that by the time schools re-open next month, there will have been a further decrease in Covid cases:
