The Longford group is one of three pilots nationally aimed at improving the connection between communities and agencies of the law to better deal with local crime

The Chairperson of the Local Community Safety Partnership in Longford says she hopes the various agencies on the body can work well together to resolve crime issues.

Martina Maloney was speaking ahead of an online public information session about the new group on next Monday.

The Local Community Safety Partnerships are being piloted in three areas of the country instead of the JPC's or Joint Policing Committees which were introduced in recent years.

The partnerships are made up of statutory services including the voluntary and community sector, local councillors, and community members from around the county.

The information session on Monday aims to raise public awareness of the initiative and to explain the next steps.

Martina Maloney says she hopes the agencies involved will work closely together to help people across the county.
