Longford principal urges caution in celebrations as Leaving Cert results come out

There's been a significant rise in the number of top grades awarded, compared to last year's results.

Leaving cert students will be able to access their provisional results for this years exams from 10 o'clock this morning.

Over 61,000 students had the opportunity to receive accredited grades, sit the exam or both, due to school time missed during lockdown.

The Principal of Moyne Community School in Longford is asking young people to continue to be responsible with regard to the Covid virus.

Des Cullen says Leaving Cert students have already missed out on a lot of things again this year and there's no doubt that many will want to let off steam.

He says young people have followed Covid advice very responsibly during the pandemic and just need to hang in there for another while.
