Longford IFA Chairman Gavin White is warning pet owners they could be liable for major financial costs if their dog is found to have attacked

Longford IFA Chairman Gavin White is warning pet owners they could be liable for major financial costs if their dog is found to have attacked sheep.

It follows an incident in the Granard area last Thursday evening when several lambs were killed.

Gavin White says other animals were maimed in the attack, and ewes from the flock have lost lambs they were carrying.

He says that when costs are decided in any sheep kill case, the figures are based on what the farmer would have been paid for the finished product, and that can run into a lot of money when the vet's bills are added to it…
