Longford has highest 7-day and 14-day Covid incidence rate nationally

The coutny is reporting an average of just under twenty cases per day in the last fortnight.

County Longford has the highest seven-day and 14-day incidence rate of Covid 19 in the country.

The county has recorded a total of 139 Covid cases in the last week, and 263 in the last fortnight - resulting in a rate of 643.5 per 100,000 for the last two weeks.

984 new cases of Covid-19 were reported to the Department of Health last night - reflecting a downward trend in Covid cases in recent days.

However, the virus is still circulating locally, with Longford recording a high number of cases per 100,000 people in recent days.

According to the latest HPSC report, which covers from the 22nd of September to midnight on Tuesday of this week, it recorded 263 Covid cases- resulting in the highest incidence rate in the country at 643.5 - well above the second-highest county, Waterford, at 564.

Monaghan has the sixth-highest incidence rate for a seven-day period at 488.7 - after recording 300 cases in the last fortnight - with almost half in the last week alone.

Cavan has recorded 181 cases in the last week, and 379 over the last fortnight - with 221 cases recorded in Roscommon in the last two-week period.

53 Covid cases have been confirmed in Leitrim in the last week- with 135 in the last fortnight.
