Gardai in Longford are warning the public about a new phone scam claiming people are under warrant for offences connected to money laundering.
A number of reports of bogus calls from a person with an American accent have been made this morning, with the caller claiming to be from the Department of Social Protection.
They claim that they are investigating money laundering offences and that they are seeking personal details.

Gardai are urging people not to divulge any personal information over the phone to callers or to anyone whom they are unsure of their identity.
