HIQA carried out an unannounced inspection at the house

A Longford disability service has received high marks following a HIQA inspection.

Hillview House, run by St Christopher's Services provides a home for up to six adults with intellectual disability and mild to moderate support needs.

The centre, a six en-suite bed and single bed house in a rural setting was the subject of an unannounced inspection.

HIQA inspectors attended the property to review the infection prevention and control measures that had been put in place by the provider.

On arrival at the property, HIQA staff noted the centre was in a good state of repair with floors, furniture and toilet facilities all in a clean and maintained state.

The person in charge was recorded as having a thorough maintenance check list, with both indoor and outdoor areas well maintained and described as sufficient.

During the inspection, staff spoke about residents in a respectful, friendly and caring manner and displayed good knowledge of resident preferences and activities they enjoyed.

Infection control measures were adequate for the facility with sufficient hand hygiene stations, signage and PPE storage on site.

Overall the inspector observed that the centre was very clean and in a good state of repair.
