Longford Covid incidence rate under national average for first time in months

The County had spent months at the top of the national table, with high levels of virus transmission recorded among the population.

Longford's Covid-19 transmission rate has fallen below the national average for the first time in two months.

The County had been dealing with one of the highest 14-day incidence of the virus nationwide throughout February and March.

Cavan is now the only county in the region with a virus transmission rate above the national average and recorded 8 new cases locally last evening.

6 cases were identified in Monaghan yesterday, while in the Shannonside Region, Longford, Roscommon, and Leitrim all recorded less than 5 cases.
