Longford County Council is to formalise a new Friendship Agreement with the US State of Maryland.
Members of the Secretary of State Office of Maryland visited Longford last week and met with local authority officials.
The proposal would see both bodies strengthening business links with companies on each sides.

County Cathoirleach, Turlough McGovern believes it will have a positive economic benefit for the town.
