Longford brewer says 'cautious optimism' among local hospitality traders

The Longford firm faced a major challenge due to the lockdown affecting pubs and hospitality

The co-founder of a Longford brewery believes the hospitality industry is showing signs of 'cautious optimism' after surviving multiple lockdowns in the last 18 months.

St Mel's Brewing Company took to selling directly to the public from their Longford town base after their distribution network and wholesale business was badly affected by the closure of hospitality through the various lockdowns.

The firm is now hoping that the worst is over and it can get back to selling directly to hotels and bars as well as using the pandemic to 'reset' and reassess their future.
