A proposed location for a skate park in Longford has been revealed.
Council officials met with Longford Youth Service and the park's committee at the grounds of the greyhound stadium earlier this week.
The local authority purchased the site in late January and it's understood the skating amenity could form part of its regeneration plans.
Lauren Lawlor is member of the skate park committee, she's welcoming the progress of the project.
''Unless we're staying on pathways we've been forced to kind of leave the town and if we want to go to a proper skate park, the closest would be Cavan or Athlone. And that's about an hour drive, if not more. And that's all well and good for any of the older skaters, but in my mind, I'm thinking about all the kids that just don't have that option to even get on a bus and go to the skate park for the day.''
