Strokestown has become the latest GAA club in Ireland to find itself affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, after a club member is believed to have shown symptoms over the weekend.

It’s believed that the club member, who had been at the club’s grounds in recent days in an official capacity,  has been tested for the virus and is now awaiting the results after feeling unwell.

The club announced on social media late on Monday evening that the planned minor championship game between Strokestown and Oran was to be called off immediately, and  “all club activities are suspended as a precautionary measure until further notice.”

The decision to suspend all activity is the normal advice from the GAA to clubs when a suspected case is reported, and only if a positive test is confirmed will any decision be made about the club's fixtures in the county by the Roscommon CCC.

According to the latest figures from the HSE, Roscommon had 347 cases  of Coronavirus as of Monday evening - unchanged from Sunday when it recorded its first new case in a month.
