The Garda Commissioner is due to attend a special event next week to remember two gardaí killed in Roscommon forty years ago.
A prayer service is to take place at the memorial to Detective Garda John Morley and Garda Henry Byrne who were shot at Shannon's Cross Loughglynn following a bank robbery in Ballaghaderreen.
As a mark of respect, church bells in Loughglynn, Fairymount, Ballaghaderreen and Castlerea will ring out at 2.20 pm, the time the incident happened on July 7th, 1980.
Up to 200 people are expected to attend and stewards will be in attendance to help people on the day.
One of the organisers Brendan Gordan, admits that the forty year anniversary will bring back a lot of memories for many people.
