Directions from the DPP are expected to be provided in court this morning in connection with the investigation into the alleged murder of a garda in Castlerea earlier this year.

Stephen Silver of Foxford, Co.Mayo, is due to appear at Harristown District Court in connection with the murder of Detective Colm Horkan this morning

This matter was last in court two weeks ago and on that occasion Sgt Mark Mahon explained that the file into the murder of Det. Garda Colm Horkan on June 17th would be with the DPP this month.

At the same sitting of the court, a defence solicitor for Mr Silver explained that her client still was receiving treatment at the Central Mental Hospital.

A previous court sitting heard that the investigation into the murder of Det. Garda Horkan involves 200 statements and 250 exhibits and Gardai were also speaking to a person in Australia as part of their investigation.

Judge Faughnan remanded Silver in custody to appear before Harristown District Court again this morning.
