People in Longford who have an interest in finding out more about their local streams and rivers are being invited to take part in a new course to be delivered mainly online in the coming weeks.
The free courses will focus on North and South county Longford and participants will hear how the various streams, rivers, canals, and lakes connect together in the county.
The course is aimed at everyone from Tidy Towns members, farmers, anglers, walkers, and anyone with an interest in water protection, conservation and management.
Dr Ken Whelan who has extensive experience in working on the waterways in Ireland with a variety of agencies says people very often don't know very much about their local river or stream.
He says they hope to help people see that even very little change on a small stream can have a major impact on a bigger river.
Anyone who wants to find out more about the course and how to register can visit Longford.waters-project.com or contact [email protected]
