A planning application has been made to Leitrim County Council for the development of a pellet manufacturing facility at Kiltoghert near Carrick-on-Shannon.
Desmond Rooney is applying of a change of use of an existing facility dealing with end of life vehicles.
Permission is being sought to develop an existing shed as a Biomass Renewable Energy Processing facility.

The application includes adding to the shed to include a facility for the intake and drying of Biomass, and using the existing building for producing the pellets.
The development would also involve a storage shed for the biomass, and another for the finished pellet product.
It's understood that the main biomass product involved would be wood.
