A large sum of money has been spent on promoting tourism in the midlands over the past three years

Over one million euro has been spent on promoting the Hidden Heartlands tourism brand in the last three years.

According to new figures released to Shannonside Northern Sound, almost nine hundred thousand euro (€869,967) was spent in its launch year in 2018.

Failte Ireland also spent almost half a million euro (€477,000) on promoting the brand which covers the Shannonside region, as well as County Cavan in 2019.

Failte Ireland also produced a ‘Make a Break for It’ campaign in 2020 due to the pandemic which cost a total of €1.7million of which approximately 25% was spent on promoting the Hidden heartlands brand.
