Local vet urges pet owners to reevaluate response to dog bites

Dog bites can be prosecuted under the Control of Dogs Act 1986 with a fine and possible destruction of the animal.

Dog owners need to re-evaluate the behaviour of their pets according to a local vet.

James Victory from Longford based veterinary practice Crandara, says owners are allowing biting behaviour to develop in their dogs.

According to the Longford Vet, these behaviours develop in dogs that have little socialisation with humans in the first year of their life.

Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, he says that puppy farms are one of the causes of these issues spreading.

The experienced vet says smaller dogs are often let get away with dangerous behaviours due to their size:
