Local TDs have been accused of political theatrics during a Dáil debate on the Mercosur Trade Deal. Minister of State Timmy Dooley was responding to a Sinn Féin motion condemning Ireland's handling of negotiations. Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny had earlier accused the Government of 'riding two horses' when it came to the deal.
Independent Ireland staged a mass anti-Mercosur protest in Athlone last weekend. Ireland voted against the deal which will see South American beef gain access to European markets. Minister Dooley took aim at Sinn Féin during yesterday's debate:
