The hospital finally got the green light from the cabinet this week after weeks of controversy.

A local TD believes the government's handling of the new site for the national maternity hospital has eroded women's trust in healthcare.

The controversy over the re-location of services to the St Vincent's hospital campus resulted in two Green TDs beings suspended this week.

The government faced concerns about the phrase 'clinically appropriate' as set out in the legal documents but claimed that they were confident there would be no religious interference in any running of the hospital.
