The protest in Co Clare follows several others across the country in recent years after refugees were brought to different areas across the country

A Roscommon TD says lack of communication and different treatment on some issues are among the reasons leading to protests like the situation in Inch.

A group staging a blockade at a hotel in Co. Clare are once again being urged to stand down.Representatives for the protestors met with the Junior Integration Minister Joe O'Brien yesterday. He promised no further international protection applicants will be sent to the area for the next four weeks.

More than 30 asylum seekers moved into holiday homes at the Magowna House Hotel in Inch earlier this week.Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning Independent TD Michael Fitzmaurice says small rural communities can feel under threat when a large number of people are brought to live in an area all at once.

He says there can also be a sense that people who arrive in this country are entitled to better supports when it comes to state services.

'When you see, first of all, in a community , that they're not even being told that people are coming, second of all when you see an area where maybe, that more international people are coming in that actually the amount of people living in the area , they feel under threat , thirdly, if you see a school bus that wouldn't bring kids to Cloverhill , kids that were living in Roscommon town for years and years , but automatically when somebody lands in from another country , that there's a bus put on, whether we like to say it or whether we don't, it causes resentment.'
