A local TD has called on the Government to scrap the TV license fee. Sinn Fein TD Sorca Clarke was speaking ahead of a motion which her party is tabling in the Dail later calling for the fee to be scrapped and replaced with exchequer funding for public service media. The Party also wants an amnesty for those facing prosecution for not paying it.
Meanwhile, The Taoiseach says ‘it’s just wrong’ to call for an amnesty for those who haven’t paid their TV licence fee. Leo Varadkar says it wouldn't be fair on those who obey the law:
