Those suffering from addiction in the Shannonside region are being encouraged to attend local support groups.
SMART Recovery support individuals who have chosen to abstain, or are considering abstinence from any type of addictive behaviours by teaching how to change self-defeating thinking, emotions, and actions.
The service runs a group in Roscommon Town every Friday at 7pm and another group is now running on Wednesday at 1pm.
There are also many other meetings around the country as well as online meetings.
Darren O' Brien from SMART says people suffering from addiction shouldn't be stigmatised, but rather encouraged to get help.
