The Irish Second Level Students Union says the decision not to have a calculated grades option is a "failure".

A Leitrim student says the decision that students will sit a traditional Leaving Cert this year is unfair.

Minister for Education Norma Foley will bring a proposal before Cabinet today, which will see a return of traditional exams but with greater choice on papers.

Dylan Gallagher, a student in Carrick on Shannon wrote to the Minister earlier this year seeking a hybrid model and says he's now shocked by the latest announcement by Norma Foley.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, the Leitrim student said the Department of Education have shown disregard to the students, unions and the Children's Ombudsman who all called for a hybrid model.
