New changes in payment fees are causing solicitors across the country to resign from the legal aid scheme.
From today, solicitors will be paid a flat fee of 520 euro - regardless of how many appearances they represent a client at.
That replaces the 240 euro they received for first appearances, and around 60 euro for each sitting which followed.
Solicitors may continue to withdraw services long into July in response to proposed legal aid reform.
