Rural transport providers in the Shannonside region are encouraging people to wear face coverings.

While face coverings are not mandatory, companies that operate routes across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon are encouraging customers to be mindful of others while on their services.

All public routes were running throughout the pandemic but with the lockdown restrictions on travel easing, many people who did not travel to their local town are not making plans to get out to get essential goods themselves.

Damien O' Neill, Manager of Local Link Longford Westmeath and Roscommon, he says even though there is reduced capacity on all buses, every effort will be made to ensure people can get a seat:
