Local road reopens following incident with animal on the loose

A local has sustained severe injuries following a bull's escape in Roscommon. The bull fled from an abattoir on Patrick Street in Castlerea. A member of the public was knocked down by the animal on New Road yesterday.

A helicopter arrived on the scene, but an ambulance was there to take the injured individual to University Hospital Galway instead, where they are now in stable condition. The scene was preserved for examination and the Health and Safety Authority was notified.
The road is now open to the public.
