Close to a million euro in funding has been allocated for community projects across the Shannonside region.
The CLAR funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development is designed to develop and upgrade community facilities in rural areas.
One of the projects which will receive funding is Lus na Greine in Granard.
The family resource centre are currently in the midst of moving premises the former Youthreach building in the town
They received over €43,000 to develop a new conference and cinema space at the new complex and Eileen Finan, who is the project's overall co-ordinator says it will be a very exciting new space for locals when it is complete:
We're putting in an auditorium, conference and cinema space.
It'll be a multi use room and will be a fantastic resource in the new complex.
It'll be open 7 days a week once finished.
