Local pharmacist urging people to be wary when buying antigen tests

The public is being asked to check packets of antigen tests to ensure they meet standards.

A Roscommon pharmacist is urging the public to only buy approved antigen tests.

The message comes as the country has seen an increase in demand for home testing kits in recent weeks.

Tina Gerathy from Molloy's Lifestyle Pharmacy in Roscommon says people should ensure that the antigen tests they are buying are CE certified and approved by pharmaceutical company HIPRA.

There are warnings that non-certified testing kits could give inaccurate results.
