A local MEP says it's time rural decline was addressed and called for efforts to reverse regional imbalance. Chris McManus was speaking ahead of a public meeting in Longford this afternoon to address these issues. The Sinn Féin MEP said the midlands and northwest had been left behind in terms of economic development.
He added it was evident further efforts were needed in order to bring balanced regional development further west. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said the region was lagging when it came to infrastructure:
