People in the Shannonside region must get into the habit of shopping around for mortgages and loans.
That's the advice from Karl Cronin of North Connacht & Ulster MABS following ERSI research revealing almost half of mortgage holders did not compare offers.
The Money Advice and Budgeting Service manager believes the research illustrates that consumers are hesitant to switch to better financial products.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Karl Cronin advises locals to go to a good mortgage broker and the CCPC website to save money on mortgages:
'A recommendation for someone looking for a mortgage for the first time is to go to a good mortgage broker because they will have a good oversight of what's on offer in the market in general.
Many people are intimated by finance and as you say yourself just not having the time to do it but that's not a good enough reason anymore when you CCPC website who has done all the work for you.
It is just a matter of clicking in and clicking at which product you want to look at to dates and rates from all the main lenders.'
