People who use Local Link services are being advised to book in advance as buses will be running at just 25% capacity from tomorrow.

The buses, which serve dozens of local communities across the Shannonside Northern sound region, will still be running normal schedules, but with reduced passengers numbers allowed on each bus.

Damien O'Neill, manager of Local Link Longford Westmeath Roscommon, says that the service became a vital lifeline for several people during the first lockdown as it allowed people do their shopping and interact with others.

He says the service is more than just transporting people and due to the lockdown, they want to ensure that by pre-booking over the phone, no-one is left waiting at a stop only to be told they can't get on the bus :
