Local hospitals continue to feel the effects of major national cyber attack

It's feared the effects of the attack could cause major disruptions in Hospitals across the country into next week.

Hospitals in the Shannonside Northern Sound region have had to cancel a number of services today as a result of the cyber attack.

All radiology appointments, with the exception of urgent maternity cases, some CT and MRI services have also been affected have been cancelled in Sligo, Roscommon and Cavan hospitals and some outpatient appointments have been rescheduled.

There have been delays in all clinics and in the ED and Injury Units in all local hospitals also.

Community Services that offer remote appointments have also been affected.

Breda Crehan Roache Chief Officer of Community Healthcare in the West says Covid testing centres are operating a walk-in service as GP cannot use the referral system:
