A local GP says the spread of misinformation online has had a major impact on public health. Castlerea doctor Madeline Ní Dhálaigh said false information around vaccines has seen measles return to the fore in Ireland. She was speaking as the Irish Medical Organisation hosts its annual general meeting in Killarney.

Potential bans on smartphone use among primary school children and gambling advertising are among the proposed motions. The AGM is also expected to hear calls for the immediate lifting of the HSE recruitment embargo. Speaking to Shannonside News, Dr Ní Dhálaigh said false information online was a big problem for the health sector:
