Gardaí are urging local students to socialise responsibly this weekend as thousands of teens receive their Leaving Cert results today.
The results are due to be released online to 60,000 students nationwide at 10 o'clock this morning.
Local Gardaí have put extra patrols on across the region as local towns are expected to be busy this evening with students heading out.
The RSA is also echoing the call, urging students travelling to celebrate to exercise extreme caution on the road.
Leitrim Gardaí are advising local students to plan their night, inform friends or loved ones of where they will be and to drink responsibly.
Inspector Carla Curry from Carrick On Shannon Garda Station says it's important students celebrate safety and within the law:
"An Garda Siochana would like to wish all our Leitrim leaving cert students the very best of luck with their results and we will have extra patrol cars, please plan your night, please let someone know where you are and when you will be back and remember to keep an eye on each other and to look out for each other."
