A number of firms have been targeted by scam artists encouraging shop assistants to change large denominations of notes and getting more money back than they handed over initially.
Gardai are urging shops and stores to be very careful if any customer seeks changes for notes and to develop a clear policy on how to deal with customers seeking this type of service.
