Fire Services in the Shannonside Northern Sound region are to receive a number of new fire tenders in the coming months.
The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O'Brien has announced funding of €20.8 million for new fire appliances across the country.
There will be a total of 6 new fire appliances provided for Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
Cavan Council Council will gain 2 new fire appliances through the funding while Roscommon, Leitrim, Longford and Monaghan County Councils will receive one new tender each.
Minister O'Brien says that the allocation of the new equipment is a clear demonstration of the Government's commitment to strengthening emergency response capacities.
