The Mayo/Sligo/Leitrim Education and Training Board have officially opened tenders to purchase air purifiers and filters, as students return to school this week.
According to teachers, schools are being forced to make "difficult decisions" regarding ventilation, as the the country faces a severe cold snap.
The body is seeking a provider for several portable and mobile purifying units to be delivered directly to the MSLETB sites in need of them.
