Leitrim and Longford saw the highest growth rates of rent for new tenancies in the last quarter of 2024. That's according to the most recent quarterly update from the Residential Tenancies Board. Leitrim and Longford experienced increases of 19% and 13.1% respectively. Co. Longford was also among the counties with the highest increases for existing tenancies, at 10.1 per cent rent compared to the third quarter of 2024.
However, the lowest rent in the country was also recorded in Co. Leitrim, at €775 per month. A total of 2,989 new private tenancies were recorded across both counties in the first three months of 2025. At the end of Quarter 1 of this year, landlords with one tenancy accounted for 66% of all private landlords and 25% of all tenancies nationally.
