Local Councillors are branding Simon Harris' probable ascension to party leader as good news for the area. Councillors in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon were split on who to back earlier today with many willing to throw their support behind Rural Regeneration and Social Welfare Minister Heather Humphreys.
Speaking on Let's Talk earlier today, Longford Fine Gael Councillor Peggy Nolan says while she would like to have seen Minister Humphries in the role, the Higher Education minister is also a good choice:
